INVESTMENT COST

To qualify for residency, one must make a minimum contribution of EUR 600,000 and stay for at least 36 months, or make a minimum contribution of EUR 750,000 and stay for at least 12 months.

INVESTMENT TIMELINE

Before applying for citizenship, individuals who are applicants or adult dependents must have Maltese residence status for a minimum of 36 months, except in cases where the exception applies, which allows for a minimum of 12 months.

PROCESS

To apply, one must complete the designated forms, pay the relevant fees, and provide the required documents. Thorough due diligence examinations are conducted, and any application found to have inaccurate information or omissions will be rejected.

Once the Community Malta Agency completes and approves the Tier 1 due diligence checks, the applicant may proceed with submitting an application for a residence permit. After obtaining the residence permit, the agency will conduct further due diligence checks for tiers 2, 3, and 4. The results of these checks will be presented to the relevant Maltese minister, who will make the final decision on the applicant’s eligibility to apply for citizenship.

Upon successfully completing 36 months of residency (or 12 months in exceptional cases), the Community Malta Agency will receive the citizenship application. Following the minister’s decision on the applicant’s eligibility for Maltese citizenship, the successful candidate will be obliged to fulfill the investment, donation, and property requirements. Once these requirements have been met, the applicant will be invited to take the oath of allegiance in Malta and be issued a Maltese certificate of naturalization.
